This is a place for those who need a moment of self-reflection, to go within — a little morning motivation, nighttime quiet, or some stillness on a lunch break. The world can be loud, busy, crowded, and self-obsessed. I hope these words (in the middle of an equally clamoring, text-filled internet) evoke for you the simple and forgotten things, the quiet tug within us that longs to be heard. When was the last time you, in the middle of a city, saw the stars?

The title Simple and Forgotten Things comes from Carl Jung:

You must go in quest of yourself, and you will find yourself again only in the simple and forgotten things. Why not go into the forest for a time, literally? Sometimes a tree tells you more than can be read in books.

I hope these words (found in books, ironically) help bring you back to the forest, help you go within, into that quiet space, and find yourself again, and that they are both heartening and complex, contain the many shades of life. These are all words that have helped me. This project is both my own journey in continuing to go within and an inkling that sharing my personal explorations and wrestling with truths may be useful to you. I have a growing awareness that as each of us begins again with ourselves, we contribute to a more human, more loving world.
