Summary
A theme this week has been stepping outside of safety and taking risks not only to fulfill our own inward promptings but to connect with others in a real way.
We heard from Pema Chodron about the need to step outside of comfort to actually practice patience; from Sue Monk Kidd, the bravery of following our inner promptings; from Francis Mallman, a life on the edge of uncertainty; and from Charles Ringma about the need for questioning, searching, and risk-taking for growth.
Meditation Practice / Journal Prompt
Sit quietly, maybe setting a timer for 10 minutes. What is one small “risk” you could take this weekend to nudge you out of your own comfortable routine? What is one small internal prompting you’ve been feeling, something prompting you to reach out, or to bring a bit of nurture or joy to yourself?
This could be a small “risk.” Maybe take a different path on a walk, or explore a new place in town, or give yourself 10 minutes to browse for local yoga classes or graduate programs. Just one tiny step, even glimpse, outside of your routine that honors something you know deep down you long for, or that connects you with someone or something you’ve been longing to connect with.
